To promote environmental sustainability, a large-scale tree-planting campaign was launched at the University of Karbala

The University of Karbala launched a tree-planting campaign across its campuses, colleges, and centers. The campaign was attended by the University President’s Assistant for Administrative Affairs, Professor Jassim Al-Maamouri, a number of faculty deans, and a committee from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This campaign coincided with Iraqi National Tree Planting Day.

University President Professor Sabah Wajid Ali stated that the tree-planting campaign is part of the national program to increase green spaces, combat desertification, and achieve environmental sustainability.

For his part, the University President’s Assistant for Administrative Affairs, Professor Jassim Eidan Al-Maamouri, emphasized the university’s commitment to implementing environmental sustainability standards, especially in light of climate crises.

The ministerial committee commended the good management of the green spaces at the University of Karbala and their organized design, which complements the university’s buildings and campuses, reflecting the extent of interest and concerted efforts in creating a university environment that contributes to improving students’ mental health.
