The Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Jassim Eidan Barak Al-Maamouri, inaugurated the second annual scientific exhibition of the Department of Applied Geography in the College of Education for the Humanities. The exhibition was attended by the Dean of the College of Education for the Humanities, Professor Hadi Al-Saidi, Professor Mark Weeden from University College London, the Assistant Dean of the College of Education for Scientific and Administrative Affairs, and a number of faculty members and students. The exhibition aims to utilize modern technologies and highlight the role of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing in studying and understanding geographical phenomena. The exhibition also leverages the expertise of students and faculty members to interact and exchange knowledge with academic institutions and relevant stakeholders. It also aims to spread environmental geographic awareness about developing innovative projects and ideas that contribute to solving environmental and societal problems using modern geographic tools. The exhibition included a display of environmental works related to innovative scientific projects, illustrative tools, and models (educational models, wall panels, devices, and posters). Interactive science stations were also displayed, as part of the curriculum taught to students at various levels, and included images, information, questions, and entertaining games. It also featured a display of the most important digital programs taught in the department and how they are used in geography.
